Heating Systems
As any Vermonter knows, the heating season can be a LONG one here in Vermont. Your heating system needs to be able to meet your needs for the better part of the year, and its efficiency can make a huge difference in your heating bill. Heating systems have come a long way in even the last ten years. If your system is older, even if it still works, it’s probably working too hard to heat your home. That’s why many Vermonters are finding it cost-efficient to replace heating systems that are even only ten years old.
To explain this further, a system’s fuel efficiency indicates how much of the fuel you’re burning, is actually being turned to heat. An 88% efficient piece of equipment turns 88% of the 100% of fuel it burns, into heat. The other 12% essentially keeps the systems running. Units purchased today can have efficiencies up to 98% which means that 98% of the fuel you are burning is being converted into heat for your home. This drastically improves the lifecycle and value of a tank of fuel!
Jack’s HVAC can help you find the best heating system for your home and your budget.
Hybrid Heat Pump Systems
A very efficient way to heat your home or office is by combining a Gas Furnace with a Centrally Ducted Heat Pump system. This system is called a “Hybrid Heat” or “Dual Fuel System”. It comprises a High-Efficiency Gas Furnace with an Indoor Heat Pump Coil and an Outdoor Compressor/Coil section installed outdoors. The system will function in Heat Pump mode down to a predetermined (adjustable) outdoor air temperature. When this temperature is reached, it automatically switches to the Gas Furnace. This optimizes efficiency and fuel savings.
At Jack’s, we have installed these systems for over ten years and are experts in this technology. Proper installation of this equipment and the setup of the control systems is vital to ensure maximum efficiency.
Though we have installed many brands of equipment over the years, we now prefer Bosch Heat Pumps combined with either a Bosch Furnace or a York Furnace, depending on the customer’s needs and budget.

Gas Furnaces
Variable speed technology used in gas furnaces today consumes far less fuel while being much quieter in your home. We offer multiple brands of gas furnaces, including York, Rinnai, and Carrier, and will help you determine the best fit for your needs.
Gas or Boilers
Whether we like it or not, many Vermont homes were built with boilers. In some cases, it simply makes financial sense for Vermonters to replace an old boiler with a new one. Luckily boilers have made huge strides, making them significantly more cost-and-fuel-efficient. As with furnaces, Jack’s HVAC will evaluate your specific needs to determine the most cost-effective way to replace your dated system with a new energy-efficient boiler.
